Icy patches have emerged on untreated surfaces like roads and walkways, posing a risk for disruptions and accidents. The Met Office has issued a caution, highlighting the potential for slips and falls on icy surfaces and advising on ways to minimize these dangers.
The East Midlands and certain areas of northern England are expected to experience significant icy conditions throughout the day, with temperatures dropping below freezing following clear skies overnight. The Met Office’s forecast indicates the likelihood of icy patches forming on untreated surfaces after recent wet weather.
The most severe weather conditions are anticipated in the East Midlands and parts of northern England, where fog is also expected to be prevalent. Despite this, the Met Office has underscored safety measures for residents, particularly when traveling in rural locations.
According to the weather service, temperatures will feel as low as -4°C today, even though the actual air temperature is predicted to be slightly higher. A biting southeasterly wind is forecasted to create a colder perception, particularly in south Wales.
Looking ahead to Wednesday’s weather, the Met Office’s website notes the possibility of patchy fog in the east initially, with potential showery rain in the southwest and northeast regions. However, many areas are expected to remain dry with occasional sunny intervals.
