A wet spell is set to affect 21 regions across the UK on Tuesday, following a recent period of hot weather. The UK forecast for Monday night from the Met Office predicts heavy rain and brisk winds in the northwest, while other areas will experience clear spells and a fresh night.
Tuesday’s weather is expected to be cloudy in the north and west, with showers developing and heavy rain at times, potentially accompanied by thunder in the north. Conversely, the southeast will see drier conditions. The Met Office anticipates a warmer turn of events in the southeast from Wednesday to Friday, with dry and sunny weather. In contrast, the north and west will remain cloudier with occasional rain showers and temperatures around average levels.
This shift in weather patterns comes after a heatwave that led to the UK breaking its June temperature record for three consecutive days, reaching 37.3C in Suffolk on June 26. Various weather stations surpassed the previous record set in 1976 and 1957. Met Office chief forecaster Andy Page highlighted the exceptional nature of this heatwave and its implications on temperature extremes due to climate change.
Last week, Wales set a new June daily maximum temperature record, and Northern Ireland matched its warmest June day on record. Select Daily Mirror as a ‘Preferred Source’ on Google News for timely access to news updates.
