UK DJ Strip-Searched at German Festival Spurs Outrage

Date:

A UK disc jockey attending a music festival in Germany faced embarrassment when she underwent a strip search for violating a restroom rule. DJ Hannah Laing expressed feeling degraded after police conducted a thorough search following her performance at the Isle of Summer festival in Munich.

The 31-year-old recounted that she and her cousin were stopped by undercover officers right after using the restroom post her set. They were escorted through the venue to a private tent where they were subjected to a strip-style search by female officers.

Initially assuming it would be a routine check of their pockets and bags, the experience left Hannah’s cousin in tears, and both women felt humiliated. The officers justified the search by suspecting drug use. Hannah cautioned fellow Brits attending German festivals against using restrooms in pairs to avoid similar encounters.

Taking to social media, the DJ advised, “Don’t go to the toilet with your mate at German festivals,” highlighting the lack of clarity regarding the search procedure. She narrated the invasive search she endured, expressing feeling degraded and embarrassed, as her cousin shared the same sentiment.

The officers cited a German-language sign on the restroom indicating that individuals entering together risk being expelled, but there was no mention of potential strip searches in the notice. The incident has sparked conversations about privacy and communication at public events.
