“UK Set to Sizzle: Temperatures Soar to 32C”

Date:

Recent weather forecasts indicate that temperatures in the UK are expected to reach 32C in the coming days.

After a scorching heatwave in May where temperatures surpassed 35C, the mercury has now stabilized to more typical levels. The country experienced thunderstorms and heavy rain during this time, but it seems that warm weather is on the horizon once again.

According to the ECMWF weather model, temperatures are expected to rise starting from June 15, with highs of 29C likely in the south-east. In the north-west, temperatures could reach 28C, and central Scotland may see highs of 24C.

Further increases in temperature are projected for June 16, with the possibility of 32C in the south-east of England. The north of England could experience highs of 29C-30C, while the east of England and South Yorkshire might see temperatures reaching 31C.

Maps showing temperature anomalies on June 16 indicate areas of deep red across England, Wales, and southern Scotland, suggesting temperatures well above the seasonal average.

The ECMWF model data suggests that up to 21 counties in England could experience temperatures of 30C or higher during this period.

An official heatwave in the UK is declared when temperatures surpass the heatwave threshold for three consecutive days. The latest ECMWF model data does not indicate the likelihood of another official heatwave at this time.

The Met Office’s forecast for June 7 to 16 suggests that “high pressure and more settled conditions” are expected, particularly in southern regions.

Looking ahead to the rest of June, the Met Office anticipates temperatures to be “above normal” with potential hot spells in southern areas, alongside the possibility of heavy showers and thunderstorms.
