Voting is currently taking place in the largest series of elections in the UK since 2024. The polling stations opened at 7am in England, Scotland, and Wales, and we’ve compiled a collection of noteworthy images from various locations across the country.
From unique polling stations like a caravan in Duxford to a portakabin in Neve, political figures have been spotted casting their votes, accompanied by the presence of many adorable dogs.
A total of 5,013 councillors are up for election, with contests being held for 134 out of the country’s 317 councils. This includes elections in 32 London boroughs, six county councils, and six unitary authorities, such as the recently established East Surrey and West Surrey.
Snapshot moments captured at the polls include a dog patiently waiting outside a polling station in Hartlepool, another one outside the Pollokshields polling station in Glasgow, and the opening of a caravan serving as a polling station in Duxford, Cambridgeshire.
Notable figures like Keir Starmer, the Labour leader, and his wife Lady Victoria Starmer were among the early voters, with scenes of voters queuing at the Portakabin polling station in Walton on the Naze.
Additionally, images of dogs accompanying voters in Wimbledon and St Davids, Wales, were captured, adding a touch of charm to the election day. Political leaders like Nigel Farage, Anas Sarwar of Scottish Labour, Eluned Morgan of Welsh Labour, and John Swinney of the SNP in Scotland were also seen participating in the voting process along with their families.
