A devastating scene unfolded in Ukraine as locals were left in shock, likening a destroyed home to a “mass grave” where ten family members may have perished due to a suspected Russian missile strike. The victims, including parents Artem Voronov and Olena, seven children, and an 18-month-old grandson, were reportedly targeted in retaliation for recent attacks within Russia by Moscow’s forces on President Zelensky’s home region of Kryvyi Rih. The assault, involving 70 missiles and over 280 drones, resulted in widespread destruction of residential and commercial properties, as confirmed by President Zelensky.
Tragically, the family deaths were unknown to President Zelensky when he first addressed the situation. The tragic incident occurred in the village of Radushne, with the children, aged between 7 and 17, perishing along with their parents and young nephew. The grandson’s father, believed to be in the Ukrainian military, was serving in the artillery at the time. The grim news of the family’s fate was relayed to one of their sons, Matvii Voronov, through an online forum in the local village.
Efforts are underway to identify the victims, with the devastation claiming two homes entirely and damaging five others. Despite not all bodies being recovered, it is sadly acknowledged that the entire family likely perished in the attack. The strike on the residential area left a poignant message of loss, with the community mourning the innocent lives lost. The assault coincided with a series of major attacks across Ukraine, prompting concerns of escalation and border violations.
Reports also emerged of Russian incursions into Polish airspace during the onslaught, with authorities detecting a crater in the eastern Lublin Voivodeship following an air raid alert.
