Ukraine carried out airstrikes on a Wildberries facility, often referred to as the “Russian Amazon,” in an early morning attack. The Ukrainian forces also targeted military installations in occupied Crimea to further isolate the region and impede Moscow’s operations. The recent strike on a Wildberries depot in the town of Khryastovo in Russia’s Vladimir region caused significant damage, with thick black smoke billowing from the site. This marks the 18th assault on the online retail giant, aimed at penalizing the company for supplying military equipment.
Shortly after the incident, a drone strike hit a similar Wildberries outlet in the Russian region of Samara. The attack followed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s announcement of a shortage of essential Patriot missiles after a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv resulted in casualties. Zelensky emphasized the critical need for anti-ballistic interceptors to deter further deadly attacks by Russia.
In response to the escalating conflict, Ukraine also targeted a university in Russia’s Belgorod region believed to be involved in the development of advanced drone technology. According to the Ukrainian president, Russia has conducted numerous drone and missile attacks on Ukraine in recent days. Zelensky highlighted Russia’s increasing production of ballistic missiles and the urgent requirement for Patriot systems to defend against such threats.
Meanwhile, Russia’s defense ministry claimed to have intercepted 635 Ukrainian drones during the night, underscoring the intensity of the ongoing warfare. Ukrainian military reports indicated a significant rise in Russian casualties in July, with over 42,000 personnel losses recorded, including fatalities, injuries, and captives. Zelensky expressed concerns over Moscow’s military mobilization strategy and the growing disparity between Russian losses and recruitment efforts.
As the conflict persists, Ukraine raised alarms about Russia’s enlistment of additional troops and potential collaboration with North Korean forces to bolster its military campaign. The situation remains tense as both countries continue to engage in aggressive military actions and strategic maneuvers.
