“Ukraine Unleashes 1,000 Drones in Moscow Strike”

Date:

Ukraine unleashed a massive barrage of more than 1,000 explosive drones on Russia, marking Kyiv’s most significant attack on its neighboring country since the conflict began. Approximately 200 Kamikaze drones were deployed to strike Moscow, specifically targeting the capital’s major oil refinery for the second time in recent days, resulting in significant fires. The assault on Moscow lasted three hours, commencing at 4 am and concluding at 7 am local time, sending large plumes of black smoke into the sky.

Additionally, Ukraine fired four cruise missiles into Russia, with President Volodymyr Zelensky declaring that the country was taking the fight to the Kremlin. Zelensky warned that if Ukraine suffered, so too would Moscow. The strikes targeted various locations, including the Moscow region, the Moscow oil refinery, the Rostov region, and territories occupied by Russia.

The Kapotnya refinery in south-east Moscow was hit for the third time in a month and the second time in a week, resulting in fires and explosions at several large oil storage tanks. The attack also impacted a nearby shopping center and led to the evacuation of several residential high-rise buildings.

The drone missions conducted by Ukraine inside Russia have severely disrupted the Kremlin’s financial support for the invasion of Ukraine. Kyiv has ramped up its arms industry, producing thousands of drones monthly, enabling Ukraine to launch over 5,000 medium and long-range attacks per month. This has significantly impacted Vladimir Putin’s war budget, causing shortages in Russia and affecting fuel supplies to frontline troops.

As Ukraine seeks to gain leverage over Russia, it aims to persuade NATO, particularly the US, that it can secure victory in the war. This strategic move positions Ukraine favorably for potential peace talks with Russia to reclaim territories occupied by Russian forces.

During the recent G7 summit in France, members committed to imposing further sanctions on Russia, particularly targeting its oil and gas sector. With the signing of the Iran memorandum of understanding, global leaders are expected to shift their focus to Ukraine in the upcoming weeks. There are indications that US President Donald Trump may reevaluate his stance on Russia if convinced that Putin’s position is weakening.
