“UK’s Pedal and Post Delivery Company Closes After 14 Years”

Date:

A prominent delivery company in the UK has gone out of business after operating for 14 years. Pedal and Post abruptly announced its closure earlier this year, impacting Evri’s operations in Oxford’s Clean Air Zone. The liquidation process was overseen by Brett Lee Barton and Margaret Carter of BK Plus, who were appointed as joint liquidators by stakeholders and creditors.

Headquartered in Oxford with operations in London, Pedal and Post was known for its unique approach of using bikes for parcel deliveries to reduce emissions and traffic congestion. The company faced challenges following the loss of a key client, leading to the closure of its Oxford and London branches. CEO Christopher Benton confirmed that all 60 employees, a mix of self-employed and salaried workers, were let go.

Benton explained the difficulties of maintaining ethical employment practices in an industry dominated by self-employment. He emphasized that the closure was not a reflection on the effectiveness of cargo bikes or logistics but rather a consequence of losing a crucial client. Despite the setback, Evri swiftly reorganized its delivery services in the affected area to minimize disruptions and ensure customer satisfaction.
