Amateur investigators following the renewed search for Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 in the Indian Ocean have noted “unusual” activities from search vessels. The flight vanished from radar on 8 March 2014 en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing with 239 people on board, creating one of aviation’s greatest mysteries.
After years of searches, a fresh hunt led by Ocean Infinity and the Malaysian Government began on 30 December. Search teams are utilizing specialized equipment like underwater drones to cover approximately 5,800 square miles off Australia’s coast over 55 days.
While there have been no official updates on progress, a YouTube channel named Gilchecksix recently shared a video pointing out distinctive search patterns by a vessel. The creator speculated that the vessel’s focused inspection in a specific area could indicate a significant discovery, possibly prompting a closer examination with a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV).
The video also mentioned investigator Jean-Luc Marchand’s theory that the identified location could be where the aircraft crashed. However, it was clarified that these observations are speculative until confirmed by Ocean Infinity or the Malaysian authorities.
In a separate development, Egypt Air’s chief engineer, Ismail Hamad, proposed another theory, suggesting MH370 might be located near the western Australian coast in a specific offshore corridor. Hamad asserted that this assessment is based on engineering principles rather than mere speculation, indicating a potential method to locate the wreckage by analyzing compass deviations.
