Veteran Horse Racing Trainer Bill Turner Hospitalized in Critical Condition

Date:

A veteran horse racing trainer is in critical condition at the hospital following an accident involving a horse at his stable in Dorset. Bill Turner, who celebrated his 78th birthday recently, sustained a severe head injury during the incident. Medical professionals discovered that he had suffered a skull fracture and promptly transported him to the hospital for treatment.

Matt Chapman, a presenter on Sky Sports Racing, shared that he had spoken with Turner’s family. Turner’s wife Tracy and daughter Kathy assist in managing the stable located on the border of Dorset and Somerset. According to Chapman, Turner fell and fractured his skull, leading to his current hospitalization where he is on a ventilator. The family faces a challenging decision in the next 24 to 48 hours regarding the ventilator’s continuation.

Chapman requested the racing community to keep Turner in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Turner, who oversees 12 horses and holds a joint license with the British Horseracing Authority, has a notable track record. Over the years, he has trained multiple winners of the Brocklesby Stakes at Doncaster, a prestigious race for two-year-olds. Notably, his stable had a successful year in the past, achieving 29 victories and nearly £100,000 in prize money.

Turner’s accomplishment extended to the sale of Mick’s Yer Man, a horse that he sold to Hong Kong, where it was renamed Always Win. With a career spanning back to 1988, Turner has been successful in training both flat and jump horses. The stable’s upcoming competitor is expected to be Red Snapper, set to race in a five-furlong nursery event at Chepstow on Thursday afternoon.
