“Violent Protests Erupt at US Consulate in Karachi”

Date:

At least six individuals have tragically lost their lives, and three personnel from the US Embassy have sustained injuries in Karachi, Pakistan. Reports indicate that gunfire erupted near the US Consulate General in Karachi as a large group breached the premises in the coastal city.

A mob forcefully entered the US consulate in Karachi, setting fires and demanding retribution for recent events in Iran. The incident coincided with widespread gatherings in Iran mourning the passing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, while some Iranians celebrated the demise of the Iranian Supreme Leader across the globe.

Footage captured demonstrators attacking the embassy’s reinforced windows using makeshift weapons, with protesters engaging in clashes with law enforcement by hurling stones. Authorities deployed batons and tear gas to disperse the crowd, resulting in one protester’s death and several injuries.

Official reports confirm six fatalities and eight wounded individuals from the clashes, with the demonstrators reportedly predominantly Shiite Muslims, the same religious group as Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which boasts a global following of approximately 200–260 million adherents.

Images from the Associated Press depict Shiite Muslims protesting against the US in Lahore, further highlighting the escalating tensions. The assault on the consulate followed the recent fatal attack on Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, allegedly carried out by Israel and the United States.

As Iranian missiles continued to target Israel and Gulf Arab states in retaliation for the Supreme Leader’s death, US President Donald Trump issued warnings to Tehran. The demise of the 86-year-old Khamenei in a joint Israeli-American airstrike has cast uncertainty over Iran’s future and heightened regional instability.

Trump emphasized the opportunity for Iranians to reclaim their nation amidst the escalating crisis. Iranian officials vowed to retaliate for the perceived aggression, with the Revolutionary Guard threatening a significant offensive against Israeli and American installations.

Iran’s parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, publicly warned of dire consequences, stating that Iran’s red lines had been crossed and demanding accountability. The situation remains tense as the region awaits further developments in the aftermath of these events.
