CCTV footage has captured a violent street altercation resulting in one man sustaining stab wounds in a disturbing incident in Stoke-on-Trent.
The video shows a group of men engaging in a physical altercation during daylight hours. Amidst the chaos, one of the individuals used a wheelie bin as a weapon while multiple punches were thrown. Not captured by the camera was the stabbing of Kahif Ahmed in the shoulder. The brawl also involved Naveed Hussain, Bilal Ahmed, and Ali Abbas.
This violent incident on December 16, 2021, led to a retaliatory attack later that evening at a property on Beverley Drive, Bentilee. A group of individuals arrived at the location seeking Naveed Hussain, breaking windows and dousing the entrance hallway with petrol, both inside and outside near the lounge window.
During the attack, a 31-year-old woman was struck on the head and set on fire, suffering severe burns covering 65% of her body. Despite the grim prognosis, she miraculously survived but endured a two-month coma and now faces life-altering injuries necessitating ongoing medical attention.
In the chaotic escape, a 13-year-old girl sustained burns affecting 15% of her body on her right arm and leg. Both victims broke through a bedroom window and jumped out to flee the danger. The woman suffered a fractured pelvis, broken ribs, and a ruptured liver, requiring rehabilitation to regain mobility. They were swiftly transported to Birmingham hospitals for urgent treatment.
Following an 11-week trial, four other men were found guilty of offenses related to the destructive fire. Ali Abbas and Haris Mahmood pleaded guilty to attempted murder and arson charges, while Naveed Hussain admitted to violent disorder and possessing a bladed article in a public place. Kashif Ahmed, Bilal Ahmed, and Ali Abbas also confessed to involvement in the disorder.
All accused individuals are currently in custody awaiting sentencing, with the date, time, and location yet to be determined.
