Wetherspoons is set to launch three new pubs within a week, with two opening on the same day just in time for the Easter holidays. This expansion marks the largest simultaneous opening in the pub giant’s history, made possible through a partnership with the holiday park chain, Haven.
The initial establishment, The Springfield, will welcome customers starting on Tuesday at Haven’s Cala Gran site near Blackpool. Boasting a capacity for approximately 600 patrons, it is the largest of the three pubs. Subsequently, on Friday, both The White Clover at Haven’s Hopton park in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, and The Bluff at the Riviere Sands site in Hayle, Cornwall, will open their doors.
With these new additions, Wetherspoons will operate a total of nine pubs across various Haven parks nationwide, expecting to serve an estimated one million pints this year. This collaboration with Haven is part of Wetherspoons’ strategy to collaborate with other operators for further growth domestically and internationally.
Recently, Wetherspoons announced plans to launch two new pubs in Spain within the same airport. These venues will be located at different terminals at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona – El Prat airport, following the successful opening of the company’s first pub in Spain at Alicante Airport the previous month.
As per the trademark of Wetherspoons pubs, the new establishments will feature specially designed carpets. Each pub has a unique theme reflected in its decor. The Springfield takes inspiration from the Marine Hall in Fleetwood, The White Clover showcases coastal surroundings, and The Bluff’s design is influenced by the Hayle Estuary.
This development follows the recent opening of The Alfred Wainwright at Haven’s Lakeland site in Cumbria, collectively creating around 400 job opportunities. Last year, Wetherspoons unveiled one of its largest pubs at Haven’s Devon Cliffs site in Exmouth, Devon, with a capacity to accommodate nearly 700 customers and projected to serve up to 2,000 pints daily.
Simon Palethorpe, Haven’s chief executive, expressed excitement about the new Wetherspoons additions, stating that they enhance the holiday experience for visitors. He highlighted the substantial investment in creating exceptional seaside destinations, including the nine Wetherspoons establishments introduced since 2021.
