The White House garden underwent a transformation as former President Donald Trump opted to replace the natural lawn with cement and stone tiles, citing concerns about the lawn being problematic for women in high heels. However, with Easter events approaching, the administration hurriedly laid down strips of artificial grass in the Rose Garden for the festivities, including a family story time event.
In a separate setback, a federal judge halted construction on Trump’s ballroom project at the White House, delivering a blow to the President who was recently stripped of authority over the development. Despite the historical significance of the Rose Garden as a venue for ceremonies since the Kennedy era, Trump proceeded with significant alterations, removing iconic elements like the crabapple trees and introducing concrete pavers and Mar-a-Lago-inspired patio furniture.
The decision to revamp the Rose Garden was defended by the White House as part of ongoing renovations to enhance the historic property ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary of independence. Despite Trump’s explanation that the changes were necessary for safety reasons, there were no documented incidents of individuals encountering issues with the garden terrain prior to the renovation.
