A group referred to as a ‘wolf pack’ gang assaulted a British teenager in Magaluf, hurling despicable remarks and subjecting her to a horrifying experience. The men, while surrounding the 18-year-old victim in a hotel room, made vile comments and threats, including an eight-word insult. Seven French individuals and one Swiss national agreed to prison terms totaling over 73 years before a trial commenced earlier this week.
During the distressing 30-minute attack at the BH Mallorca Resort on August 14, 2023, the British victim reportedly lost consciousness. The assault, which was captured and shared on Snapchat, involved five of the perpetrators sexually assaulting the victim, resulting in prison sentences of either eleven or nine years.
One of the offenders admitted to a sexual assault that did not involve penetration and received a four-year prison sentence. All eight men acknowledged filming the abhorrent gang rape, with two of them sharing the footage on Snapchat. The perpetrators, aged between 18 and 26 at the time of their arrest, engaged in various acts of sexual violence against the victim.
The court proceedings revealed that Khalil Abderrahmen Mejbri and Romain Charles Michel Galatioto engaged in oral penetration of the victim multiple times. Additionally, Frenchman Anthony Guy Gerard Wengler and Swiss national Lucas Haiaiel Ngandjeu Djamen Tchatchou raped the victim. The group also subjected the victim to physical abuse, including spitting, hitting, and whipping, with some of the offenders slapping her.
The attackers faced potential prison terms exceeding 150 years if found guilty at trial but opted to plead guilty as part of a plea agreement. The agreement detailed how the defendants recorded videos focusing on the victim’s private areas and coerced her into performing sexual acts while in a semi-conscious or unconscious state.
The incriminating footage, captured by the men from different groups who had not previously known each other, played a crucial role in their arrest and subsequent prosecution. The suspects faced charges related to multiple counts of rape involving two or more individuals, sexual assault without penetration, mistreatment, and privacy violations due to the dissemination of mobile phone videos.
Detailed in a 14-page indictment, the prosecution outlined the events leading to the assault, involving six perpetrators entering a room at the BH Mallorca Resort where the victim was present. Following the assault, one of the men reportedly offered the victim for sexual services to strangers in the hotel corridor. The attackers, acting in unison, stripped the victim naked and engaged in sexual acts without her consent.
Individual sentences were handed to the perpetrators based on their involvement in the assault and filming of the victim. The men who admitted to being involved in the sexual offenses and recording the incident received prison terms ranging from four to eleven years. Some of the defendants had been granted bail before the trial and remain out on bail, while others are currently serving their sentences in prison.
Certain offenders may avoid returning to prison due to time already served while awaiting trial and being on bail. The remaining perpetrators are expected to face a court hearing next month, during which their defense attorneys will request deportation from Spain after serving a portion of their sentences. Authorities anticipate deportation after six or seven years, although public prosecutors may argue for the completion of the full sentences.
