A murder charge has been filed against a woman in connection with the tragic death of a four-year-old girl in a house fire. The accused, Carrin Wibier, faces charges of murder and arson with intent to endanger life in relation to the passing of little Lesma-Rose Wibier in Rusholme, Manchester, back in March. Wibier, aged 45 and residing in Gateshead Close, Manchester, has been detained pending a court appearance at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
According to a spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police, the charges stem from the incident involving the death of Lesma-Rose Wibier at a residence on Gateshead Close on Sunday, 2nd March 2025. Lesma-Rose was rescued from the fire and rushed to the hospital, where she unfortunately succumbed shortly after. Wibier has been under detention following the Mental Health Act since March 3, as confirmed by the police.
In remembrance of the young girl, her family expressed, “Lesma-Rose was a shining star in our family. Her inner and outer beauty was known to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her infectious smile brightened lives, and her unique intelligence will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.”
Detective Chief Inspector Charlotte Whalley extended condolences to the family, acknowledging the tragedy of the young girl’s passing. She assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to the community and no additional suspects are being pursued in connection with the investigation. The authorities are diligently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire to uncover the truth behind the incident.
