A woman who was an early user of the new weight-loss medication Wegovy shared that it significantly reduced her hunger, to the extent that she sometimes forgot to eat. Sharon Vickers, aged 46, had struggled with weight issues for years and underwent gastric sleeve surgery in January 2025, shedding 73 pounds before hitting a plateau in her progress.
Having found GLP-1 injections costly and disliking self-injections, Sharon opted to try the newly available Wegovy pill. Purchasing a 30-day supply, she noticed a renewed weight loss journey.
Starting with 1.5mg and later increasing to 4mg in April, Sharon experienced such strong appetite suppression from the pill that she frequently forgot to eat. Accomplishing her target weight of 175 pounds on May 17, 2026, she gradually tapered off the pills and ceased taking them entirely on May 27.
The United States debuted the pill in January 2026, followed by the UAE in June, and recently received approval from UK regulators. Sharon commented, “While it significantly curbed my appetite, leading to a weekly weight loss of about 2 pounds, I noticed by day 10 that I was eating very little and feeling full too quickly – which wasn’t my intention.”
Expressing her desires for the pill to aid in managing food intake and portion sizes rather than eradicating hunger completely, Sharon adopted an alternating dosage routine until she reached her goal weight. Having struggled to shed additional weight post-gastric sleeve surgery, she explored GLP-1 injections but found them financially burdensome.
Before commencing the Wegovy pill, Sharon weighed 188 pounds and successfully reduced to 175 pounds, adjusting the dosage as needed for continued progress. Delighted with her transformation, Sharon, now engaged in maintaining her weight loss, emphasized her newfound sense of accomplishment and self-pride.
Transitioning to maintenance mode post-goal achievement, Sharon acknowledged the challenges of resisting cravings without the aid of GLP-1 medication but remains committed to her exercise routine and is open to re-introducing Wegovy if required, indicating a positive outlook on her ongoing journey.
