Police are on the lookout for a driver who fled the scene of a fatal three-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a woman.
The incident occurred on the N24 road close to Grange West, Boher, in County Limerick at approximately 11:10 pm on Friday. Authorities, including Gardaí and emergency services, quickly responded to the scene. The crash involved three cars, resulting in the tragic death of a woman in her 30s who was the sole occupant of one of the vehicles.
The deceased woman’s body has been transported to the mortuary at University Hospital Limerick for a post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, a man in his 40s, the sole occupant of another car, sustained injuries deemed non-life-threatening and was taken to the same hospital for treatment.
Law enforcement officials are now actively searching for the driver of the third vehicle who absconded from the accident site, abandoning the car. The stretch of the N24 road between R505 and L1132 is presently closed for a forensic examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, with alternative routes in place.
Gardaí are urging any witnesses of the collision to step forward and provide any relevant information. Individuals who were in the vicinity of the N24 near Grange West, Boher, between 10:45 pm and 11:30 pm on Friday and possess video recordings, including dashcam footage, are encouraged to share it with the authorities.
