A woman is on a challenging path to recovery following a tragic accident during her birthday trip that resulted in severe spinal and neck injuries.
Nina Bakhshi narrates the ordeal of falling from a bridge while vacationing with friends, leading to multiple fractures and a critical medical emergency.
In an effort to support her rehabilitation, Nina shared her experience through a GoFundMe campaign, highlighting the lack of immediate medical assistance at the scene after her fall.
Describing the chaotic aftermath of the incident, Nina mentioned the absence of emergency equipment and being carried for approximately 30 minutes before transportation to a medical facility, which took about an hour. Despite the delay, she eventually received essential medical care upon arrival.
Without travel insurance at the time of the accident and no coverage from a local insurance program linked to the park, Nina’s family and friends swiftly mobilized to cover escalating hospital expenses, exhausting financial resources to address her deteriorating condition.
Due to logistical challenges and the timing of the accident over a weekend, Nina’s operation was postponed for about 28 hours post-incident, as detailed on the fundraising platform. Sharing the extent of her injuries in an emotional update, Nina expressed gratitude for saving her lower back and restoring mobility to her legs.
Although acknowledging her fortunate survival, Nina faces a prolonged recovery journey with lingering complications and ongoing medical needs, including untreated neck fractures, therapy, follow-up appointments, medications, and a challenging healing process inhibiting her ability to resume normal activities.
Remaining in Mexico for continued recuperation due to her current physical state, Nina emphasized the necessity for external support, recognizing her inability to overcome the situation alone and expressing hope for improved health to facilitate her return home.
The GoFundMe page emphasizes that all contributions will go towards sustaining medical treatment, rehabilitation, and repaying the assistance provided by loved ones during the emergency.
