“11-Year-Old Boy Missing in River Don Tragedy”

Date:

An 11-year-old boy identified as Mackenzie Swift was reported missing after entering the River Don in Doncaster. Authorities informed his family that surviving in the water for an extended period was unlikely. South Yorkshire Police initiated the search for Mackenzie around 8pm on Saturday, near Ferry Boat Lane in Mexborough.

Collaborating with South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team, and an underwater search team, the police continued the search for Mackenzie on Monday, according to Yorkshire Live. Despite extensive efforts, the authorities communicated to Mackenzie’s family that if he had not emerged from the river on Saturday, his chances of survival in the water were slim.

Doncaster District Commander, Chief Superintendent Pete Thorp, expressed determination to locate Mackenzie and support his family during this challenging time. Specialized resources and organizations are being utilized, with operational activities scheduled to resume at first light on Tuesday.

The public was advised to refrain from conducting independent search operations to avoid endangering themselves or others. The focus remains on finding Mackenzie, with all involved in the search operation showing solidarity with him and his family.
