A tragic incident unfolded as a 12-year-old girl, Jada West, lost her life following a violent altercation at a bus stop with another student. The confrontation took place on March 5 after Jada was forced off the school bus, leading to a physical fight that resulted in her sustaining severe brain injuries and passing away in the hospital a few days later.
Footage circulated on social media captured the moment when the two girls engaged in a physical altercation, with Jada initially walking away before collapsing and requiring immediate medical attention. Jada’s mother, Rashunda McLendon, expressed disbelief and grief over the loss of her only child, questioning the presence of the other girl involved in the fight, as she was not a local resident and did not typically use that bus stop.
Rashunda highlighted that Jada had recently started attending Mason Creek Middle School and had been a victim of bullying during her time there. Upon receiving news of the incident, Rashunda rushed to the bus stop to find her daughter lying motionless on the ground, requiring emergency medical intervention.
Following her transfer to Children’s Hospital Scottish Rite, Jada tragically passed away, leading her mother to express anger and a plea for teaching children the importance of love. The circumstances leading to the altercation remain unclear, with conflicting accounts from both parties involved.
Jada’s aunt, De’Quala McClendon, emphasized the need for justice and an end to such violence, sharing footage of the altercation and advocating for her niece’s memory. An ongoing investigation by the Villa Rica Police Department aims to shed light on the tragic incident.
