“Man Charged in Lancashire Teen Stabbing Case”

A man has been arrested and charged following a stabbing incident involving a teenage girl in Lancashire. Lancashire Police responded to a call at 3.06pm on Friday, June 12, on Wood Street, Brierfield, where they discovered a 17-year-old girl with a stab wound to the back of her neck.

The victim was promptly transported to a hospital for treatment, and fortunately, her injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening. She has been discharged from the hospital and is currently recuperating at home.

Subsequently, a 30-year-old man was apprehended on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a knife in a public area. Identified as Junaid Nawaz, a British-born individual of Pakistani descent residing on Livingstone Walk, Brierfield, he has been formally charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon in a public space.

Nawaz is now in police custody and is scheduled to appear before Blackburn Magistrates Court the following morning (Monday).

Authorities have announced heightened patrols in the vicinity and have urged anyone with relevant information or footage to come forward. The incident has sparked reactions on social media, with residents expressing their shock over the event in the small town of approximately 8,000 inhabitants. One individual shared relief on Facebook regarding the victim’s non-life-threatening condition.
