A massive 21lb rabbit named Junior has grown too big for his hutch and now enjoys his very own bedroom. Junior, a Continental Giant rabbit, also known as a German Giant, currently weighs as much as three chihuahuas. In comparison, his tiny companion, two-year-old Suzi, a Netherland Dwarf rabbit, weighs only 1.5lbs and can comfortably nap under one of Junior’s ears.
Their owner, Lyn Hobson, a 66-year-old chef from Winteringham, Lincolnshire, describes Junior and Suzi as “spoiled.” They have their own room in her three-bedroom house, complete with a sandpit outside. Lyn, who previously owned a 20lb rabbit named Jester, ensures that Junior and Suzi are well taken care of.
The duo has been under Lyn’s care for three years, receiving top-notch treatment. They have their own bedroom with a litter box, are well-trained, and are known never to make a mess. Lyn grows food for them in her garden and feeds them a variety of vegetables like broccoli, parsnips, carrots, and lettuce, both fresh and dehydrated.
Despite Junior’s size, Suzi seems to be the boss in the relationship, according to Lyn. She describes Junior as laid back and calls him a goofball. The pair enjoys cuddling on the sofa, watching football matches, and even “supporting” Liverpool F.C.
In addition to being pampered pets, Junior and Suzi also contribute to charity work. Lyn advocates for the importance of hay in a rabbit’s diet and raises funds for sick rabbits through Rabbit Savior. You can follow Lyn and her giant bunnies on TikTok and Instagram @Jester-the giant-bunny.
