“27 Injured in Germany Tram Collision Probe”

Date:

At least 27 individuals sustained injuries following a collision between two trams in Germany. The incident occurred in Düsseldorf, where numerous individuals were treated following the accident. Authorities are currently investigating the crash, which involved two carriages carrying approximately 60 passengers in total.

Emergency services responded to the collision, attending to the injured individuals as well as 28 others who were unharmed. Five individuals are reported to have suffered serious injuries in the incident, which took place around 11:30 am on a Saturday at the intersection of Berliner Allee and Graf-Adolf-Straße.

Local officials have initiated an inquiry into the collision, with reports suggesting that one of the trams was on the wrong track at the time of the crash. It is believed that a misaligned switch on the tram’s rail network may have led to the head-on collision.

Fortunately, the individuals removed from the tracks did not sustain life-threatening injuries. No technical rescue was required, and most passengers were able to exit the vehicles independently. Trams in the area are being rerouted as crews continue to work at the crash site, according to a spokesperson for the Rheinbahn tram network.
