After 32 years, authorities in Arizona have located a 13-year-old girl, Christina Marie Plante, who went missing in 1994 from Star Valley, a community in northeast Phoenix. The Gila County Sheriff’s Office announced the discovery, resolving her status as a missing person.
Christina was last seen walking to a stable where her horse was kept. Despite extensive search efforts at the time of her disappearance, no significant leads were found until recently. The sheriff’s office credited the breakthrough to the establishment of the Cold Case Unit, which utilized advanced technology and investigative techniques to develop new leads.
The case remained active over the years, with periodic reviews of evidence and pursuit of new information. Christina’s information was entered into national missing children databases, and flyers were distributed nationwide. The use of new technology finally led to her location.
The sheriff’s office expressed gratitude to all involved in keeping the case alive and highlighted the importance of cold case review initiatives and evolving technology in bringing closure to families and communities. Additional details about Christina’s reappearance have not been disclosed to respect her privacy.
