According to a recent survey, young individuals are spending more than £6,500 annually on unconventional beauty and wellness trends. Traditional advice like cleansing, toning, moisturizing, and staying hydrated is no longer sufficient for the current social media-driven generation.
The study reveals that British women are now investing an average of £554 per month to enhance their appearance and well-being. Men are also following suit, spending around £431 on various wellness products despite the majority recognizing the importance of returning to basic health and wellness practices.
Almost half of the 2,000 surveyed individuals have established a regular self-care routine. Popular trends include using collagen for skin improvement and taking multivitamins. However, more than half of respondents under 40 feel overwhelmed by the continuous influx of modern wellness and beauty trends, with 25% admitting to overspending in pursuit of youthfulness and well-being.
Collagen supplements and probiotic skincare are among the most purchased products in recent years, with a significant portion of buyers feeling disappointed by the promised benefits of trendy wellness items.
Many individuals recognize the simplicity of past health routines followed by older generations, emphasizing principles like sufficient sleep, hydration, and fresh air. The survey highlights a growing inclination towards reconnecting with nature, with a majority agreeing that nature-based solutions, like herbal teas, offer valuable health benefits.
Eleonora Zoani, Senior Herbal Blending Manager at Pukka, stresses the importance of simplicity amidst the overwhelming wellness landscape. The ‘Nothing Beats Nature’ campaign aims to encourage a return to basic, nature-inspired health practices, such as consuming herbal teas for overall well-being.
The top 15 products in demand among young Britons include collagen supplements, probiotic skincare, hyaluronic acid serums, gut health supplements, and various other wellness and beauty items.
