“easyJet Launches New London-Gatwick to Newquay Route”

Date:

Budget airline easyJet is set to introduce a new seasonal summer route from London Gatwick to the coastal town of Newquay, offering travelers quick access to Cornwall’s picturesque beaches. This route aims to provide a convenient and efficient travel option for those looking to enjoy the sandy shores of the region.

Known for its stunning golden sand beaches and popular surfing spots, Newquay attracts beach enthusiasts and water sports lovers. From the bustling Fistral Beach, where surfers can be seen riding the waves, to more secluded spots like Tolcarne Beach nestled among cliffs, there is something for every beachgoer in Newquay.

Porth Beach, located on the outskirts of town, offers a tranquil setting with calm waters ideal for families. With lifeguard patrols during the summer months and a selection of quaint cafes and ice cream shops nearby, it is a favorite destination for a relaxing beach day.

Starting from June 23, easyJet will operate this route with flights scheduled on Tuesdays and Saturdays until August 29. Ticket prices begin at £30.99 for a one-way journey, providing an affordable travel option for those seeking a beach getaway.

Although the new flight route offers convenience and cost-effectiveness, it has sparked debate over its environmental impact. Comparing carbon emissions, a train journey from London Paddington to Newquay emits significantly less CO2 than a car or flight journey, highlighting the sustainability concerns associated with air travel.

Kevin Doyle, easyJet UK Country Manager, expressed excitement about the new route, emphasizing the enhanced connectivity it brings to London and the South East for exploring Cornwall. Similarly, Nigel Scott, Commercial Director of Cornwall Airport Newquay, welcomed the new service, citing the growing demand for access to Cornwall from the South East.

In light of recent developments, the termination of Skybus services due to financial challenges has further emphasized the importance of alternative travel options to Cornwall. Newquay Airport, with its increasing passenger traffic and diverse airline services, continues to play a vital role in connecting the region to major cities and international destinations.
