A mother’s disturbing actions have led to her arrest after allegedly injecting a harmful substance into her child’s IV line. Tiffany M. Lesueur, 35, was taken into custody following suspicions raised by hospital staff witnessing her using a syringe on her child’s IV line.
The child, whose identity remains undisclosed, had been hospitalized for suspected abuse-related injuries. Hospital personnel observed Lesueur injecting an unknown substance into the child’s IV port. Subsequently, staff reported the incident to the authorities and initiated monitoring of Lesueur’s interactions with the child during her visits.
Surveillance footage revealed Lesueur attempting to contaminate her child’s IV line by mixing fecal matter with a liquid obtained from a specimen cup in the hospital bathroom. The footage showed her injecting this mixture into the child’s IV line connected to the left hand.
Lesueur, a resident of Ohio, faces charges of endangering children following the incident at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. She appeared in Franklin County Court of Common Pleas where she was ordered to remain in custody on a $250,000 bond. If she posts bail, Lesueur is barred from unsupervised contact with minors and is set to appear for a preliminary hearing on Feb. 19.
In a separate case, a mother, Omayrilin Colon, 37, is in custody after allegedly causing the death of her two-month-old baby by giving him alcohol. The baby, with a blood-alcohol concentration twice the legal limit for driving, tragically passed away after being rushed to the hospital unresponsive. Autopsy results confirmed the cause of death as alcohol poisoning.
Authorities claim Colon deliberately fed alcohol to her baby, as investigations revealed the alcohol was introduced through the bottle and not through breast milk. This incident occurred in Georgia, US, prompting charges of murder and first-degree cruelty to children against Colon.
These distressing cases highlight the alarming actions of two mothers resulting in severe harm to their children, underscoring the importance of safeguarding children’s well-being.
