Three horses tragically perished in separate accidents that led to the closure of a portion of a significant roadway. The incidents occurred on the A3 northbound just beyond Guildford, resulting in a road shutdown between the A247 (Burntcommon) and the B2039 (Ockham) on Thursday morning.
Authorities from Surrey Police responded to a call around 1.40 am regarding a collision involving two loose horses and a lorry on the A3. Subsequently, there was a report of a car colliding with a horse. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered three deceased horses at the site. Investigations are ongoing, with police interacting with the drivers of the vehicles involved.
The road has been temporarily sealed, and detours are in operation as Highways England undertakes recovery operations following the incidents. Traffic delays of approximately an hour have been reported.
