Authorities are in the midst of a significant manhunt a week after a tragic incident in Lake Cargelligo, a small Australian town, where three individuals, including the suspect’s pregnant ex-partner, were fatally shot. The South Wales police are actively conducting a thorough search in response to the incident that occurred on January 22.
Newly uncovered CCTV footage shows Julian Ingram, 37, the alleged perpetrator, visiting a police station on the same day of the tragic event. Ingram, also known as Pierpoint, reportedly opened fire around 4:30 pm on Bokhara Street, targeting Sophie Quinn, 24, and John Harris, 32, who were in a vehicle.
Following the initial shooting, Ingram proceeded to a residence in the town and shot Sophie’s aunt, Nerida Quinn, 50. Another individual, Kaled Macqueen, 19, was also shot on the property’s driveway and is currently hospitalized due to serious injuries.
Police have confirmed that Ingram had been released on bail for domestic violence charges prior to the incident.
Described as having an Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, Julian is approximately 165cm-170cm tall, of medium build, with short dark hair, brown eyes, and several tattoos on his arms. The newly released CCTV footage shows him wearing a yellow and navy high-visibility shirt, navy cargo pants, black boots, and a red cap, but authorities have yet to officially confirm his identity as Pierpoint.
While the search for the suspect continues, law enforcement believes that he is still alive.
NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Andy Holland highlighted the challenging circumstances of the manhunt, stating that due to the suspect’s knowledge, acquired through his council employment, of potential hiding spots such as caves, the operation is particularly complex.
Authorities have disclosed that numerous properties have been searched over the past week, and various leads are being pursued, including an incident involving a man on a bicycle who refused to stop for officers.
Appealing to anyone aiding Pierpoint, Holland emphasized the gravity of the situation, urging individuals to consider the broader community impact of the violent acts committed.
Ingram had been granted bail in late November 2025 after an altercation with Quinn subsequent to their separation, resulting in charges of stalking, intimidation with intent to cause fear or harm, and common assault.
Furthermore, the suspect’s vehicle, a Ford Ranger utility with NSW registration DM-07-GZ bearing council markings, a metal tray back, high-visibility branding, and an emergency light bar on the roof, has yet to be located. The public is advised not to approach Julian or the vehicle if spotted and to contact emergency services immediately.
