British warships are set to patrol the Arctic to enhance security in the region, as announced by Keir Starmer. This initiative, revealed at the Munich Security Conference, will involve the UK deploying its carrier strike group to the North Atlantic and High North, in collaboration with the US, Canada, and other Nato allies. The move comes in response to concerns raised after Donald Trump’s remarks about potentially taking control of Greenland, a semi-autonomous region of Denmark.
During his speech, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for preparedness to combat Russian aggression, particularly in light of recent events involving Ukraine. Starmer urged European leaders to stand firm against aggression and assured that Britain would stand by its allies if the situation demanded.
In reaffirming the commitment to security, the PM declared the deployment of the carrier strike group with the HMS Prince of Wales leading the operations. He stressed the importance of demonstrating a united front with allies to uphold Euro-Atlantic security.

Additionally, Defence Secretary John Healey announced a £400 million investment in developing long-range missiles to bolster European defense capabilities, focusing on upgrading Storm Shadow missiles utilized by Ukraine.
