British girl missing in Morocco as family criticizes authorities

Date:

The family of a seven-year-old British girl who went missing after being swept out to sea during a family vacation has criticized local authorities in Morocco.

Inaayah Makda, from Blackburn, was struck by a large wave while watching the sunset with her parents on a beach in Casablanca. Her parents, Zubair and Tasneem Makda, were also pushed into the sea but lost sight of their daughter in the chaos.

Relatives have condemned the Moroccan police and emergency services for their lack of assistance in the search, labeling their behavior as “inhumane.”

A family member expressed deep concern over the situation, citing the inadequate support received from the local authorities. In response, the parents, who are still in Casablanca, have engaged a private search team with a helicopter to aid in locating Inaayah.

Zubair Makda recounted the sudden tide that swept everyone away, causing the family to be separated, with Inaayah carried off swiftly. He criticized the local police for their perceived negligence and inaction during the crisis.

The absence of warning signs at the beach left them unprepared for the sudden danger posed by the large wave.

Various organizations, including Roe Lee Park Primary School and Masters of Martial Arts Blackburn, have extended their thoughts and prayers to Inaayah and her family, hoping for her safe return.

A spokesperson from the Foreign Office confirmed that consular staff are assisting the family of the missing British national in Morocco and are liaising with local authorities.
