Melania Trump’s new documentary, “Melania,” faces potential financial challenges if it fails to gain momentum, as per a PR expert. The movie, made under a reported $40 million Amazon MGM deal, chronicles the First Lady’s 20-day journey leading up to Donald Trump’s second inauguration in January 2025.
Spanning 104 minutes, the documentary provides a glimpse into Melania’s preparations to resume her role as First Lady, delving into her personal struggles balancing family life with the duties of her position.
In a more intimate aspect, the 55-year-old offers insights into managing family dynamics while coping with the demands of public scrutiny.
The premiere of “Melania” took place at Washington’s Trump–Kennedy Center on Thursday, 29 January, before hitting cinemas globally. Despite early indications of a lukewarm reception, concerns arise about the film’s financial future if interest does not surge.
Kayley Cornelius, a celebrity PR specialist at Press Box PR, criticized the documentary’s release strategy as a major misstep. She highlighted the lack of visible promotional efforts despite reports of substantial marketing spending.
Cornelius emphasized that a streaming release, especially on Amazon Prime, would have been more suitable for the project, garnering wider viewership and sparking online discussions fueled by Melania’s name recognition.
With limited accessibility and promotional appeal, the PR expert cautioned that the film might continue to struggle. A Florida screening’s near sell-out and positive social media responses suggest a potential uptick in interest.
After the cinema run, “Melania” will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video, accompanied by a three-episode series about Melania.
