Teenager Wanted in Fatal Gas Station Incident

Authorities are conducting a search for a teenager following a fatal incident at a gas station, leading to a murder inquiry.

A photo of Ashton Anderson, aged 19, has been released by Durham Constabulary, seeking information regarding an event that occurred at a petrol station on Stockton Road, Seaham, around 4:50 pm on January 15.

A man in his twenties was fatally injured at the scene, where it is suspected that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. Durham Constabulary has initiated a homicide investigation, resulting in the apprehension of seven individuals thus far.

Efforts are underway to locate Anderson, described as approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, slender, with short brown hair. Authorities caution that anyone aiding a suspect will face strict consequences, and an increased police presence will be maintained in the vicinity.

Law enforcement stated: “Authorities are seeking details about Ashton Anderson’s location in connection with an incident in Seaham on Thursday. Reports of a disturbance on Stockton Road, Seaham, at approximately 4:50 pm on Thursday, January 15, prompted police action.”

“A vehicle is suspected to have collided with a pedestrian at the New Seaham Service Station, resulting in serious injuries to a man in his twenties. Tragically, he was declared deceased at the scene, with his family receiving support from specialized officers.

“Durham Constabulary’s Major Crime Team has launched a murder investigation, leading to the arrest of seven individuals connected to the incident. Three teenage males and one male in his fifties have been detained on suspicion of murder and are in police custody. Additionally, one teenage female and two women in their forties have been arrested on suspicion of aiding an offender and are held by authorities.

“The 19-year-old Ashton Anderson is described as approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, slender, with short brown hair. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Durham Police at 101, referencing incident number 281 of January 15.”

DCI Chris Woollett expressed gratitude to the Seaham community for their cooperation during the investigation. While police presence will be heightened in and around the area, there is no indication of a broader threat to public safety.

“Any individual found aiding or shielding suspects will face stringent measures. Our sympathies are with the victim’s family and friends.” Individuals with information or relevant footage are encouraged to promptly contact the police.
