David Lammy has stated that F-35 and Typhoon jets are currently active in the skies, intercepting missiles, as the conflict in the Middle East continues into its seventh day. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that British military aircraft are safeguarding allies in the Gulf against a wave of retaliatory Iranian missiles and drones in the region.
In a strategic move to enhance defenses and preempt potential threats, Keir Starmer deployed four additional Typhoon jets to Qatar. This action aimed to neutralize Iranian missile threats before they could pose a danger to British nationals and allies.
Addressing concerns about the crisis response, Mr. Lammy underscored the ongoing efforts of UK jets in intercepting missiles over Jordan and Qatar. He rebuffed suggestions of embarrassment, citing the presence of F-35s and Typhoons actively engaging threats in the region, alongside coordinated efforts with allied forces like France and Germany.
Furthermore, Mr. Lammy, who also serves as the Justice Secretary, clarified the legality of RAF jets striking Iranian missile sites to prevent potential attacks on British targets.
