“Iranian Missile Attack Injures US Troops in Saudi Base”

Date:

An attack by Iranian missiles on Friday resulted in injuries to at least 10 US military personnel and caused damage to multiple aircraft at a military base in Saudi Arabia, as per two sources familiar with the situation from the US.

Among the casualties, two individuals suffered severe injuries, as confirmed by one official. The strike at Prince Sultan Air Base impacted several US refueling aircraft, according to the officials who preferred anonymity due to the sensitivity of military details.

The assault, which involved an Iranian missile and drones, occurred following statements by President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth asserting severe blows to Iran’s military capabilities.

US Central Command disclosed that over 300 service members have been injured throughout the month-long conflict, with most recovering and returning to duty, while 30 remain incapacitated and 10 are classified as seriously wounded.

Prince Sultan Air Base has been a previous target for Iranian attacks, with casualties reported, including the death of Army Sgt. Benjamin N. Pennington in a prior assault. Satellite images depicting aircraft damage were circulated online, initially reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Efforts for a ceasefire proposed by the Trump administration through a 15-point plan with Pakistan as an intermediary were met with rejection by Iran. However, Iran agreed to allow humanitarian aid and agricultural shipments through the Strait of Hormuz amid fuel price spikes and global economic disruptions.

Despite negotiations speculation, the Pentagon is set to deploy at least 1,000 troops from the 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East, with preparations underway to send two Marine units totaling around 5,000 Marines and numerous sailors to reinforce the region.
