“Banksy’s Secret $100 Las Vegas Wedding Revealed”

Date:

A well-known Las Vegas chapel recognized for its vibrant neon lights and expedited weddings has become the focal point of an unexpected revelation involving the renowned artist Banksy.

Reports have surfaced that the elusive artist tied the knot with his partner, Joy Millward, in a ceremony that only cost $100 (£75) at the Chapel of the Bells, an enduring establishment along the iconic Las Vegas Strip known for its pink-themed decor and straightforward services.

This economical wedding stands in stark contrast to Banksy’s global standing as a highly esteemed and enigmatic figure in contemporary art. Recently unearthed documents reveal that the artist utilized the name Robin Gunningham during the ceremony, despite already garnering worldwide attention under the pseudonym Banksy at that time.

Over the years, the chapel has been the venue for numerous celebrity weddings, including those of Leslie Nielsen, Mickey Rooney, and Beverly D’Angelo. It has also been featured in movies like Indecent Proposal, yet Banksy’s affiliation with the location has largely gone unnoticed.

This revelation comes amidst renewed interest in uncovering the artist’s true identity, with investigators once again pointing to Gunningham, a former public school student from Bristol, as the person behind the alias. Spanish private investigator Francisco Marco emphasized the significance of the Las Vegas marriage record as a crucial lead in the investigation.

Marco explained, “When conducting an investigation, one of the most revealing documents is a marriage certificate, as these are public records. I discovered that Robin Gunningham wed in Las Vegas in 2006. Las Vegas is a popular destination for discreet and swift weddings, ideal for someone seeking minimal exposure.”

He added, “What’s intriguing is that at that time, Banksy was already widely renowned – having just concluded his ‘Barely Legal’ exhibition in Los Angeles – yet the marriage certificate was registered under his real name, Gunningham, rather than any alias. This detail provided a key piece of the puzzle.”

At the time of the wedding, Banksy was swiftly gaining international recognition, following successful exhibitions in the United States and increasing demand for his socially charged artwork.

Currently, he is believed to reside quietly in rural Somerset under the name “David Jones,” maintaining a low profile despite his rumored multi-million-pound wealth.

Banksy has never officially disclosed his identity, and individuals close to him have cautioned that efforts to unveil it could jeopardize both his safety and artistic endeavors.

The revelation of his economical Las Vegas wedding provides a rare glimpse into the personal life of one of the art world’s most enigmatic personalities.
