Authorities have arrested a woman in her 50s after the bodies of two infants were discovered in a freezer at a residence in Aillevillers-et-Lyaumont, Haute-Saône, eastern France. The woman was apprehended 300km away in Boulogne-Billancourt, Hauts-de-Seine.
According to reports, a family member contacted the police upon finding the body of a newborn baby in the freezer at the home. Subsequently, law enforcement located the body of another infant.
Prosecutor Cédric Logelin disclosed that the woman confessed to placing the babies in the freezer shortly after their births between 2011 and 2018. Allegedly, she concealed her pregnancies and delivered the infants at home before leaving the property in December.
Further investigations led to the arrest of the woman, who was reportedly located in the Paris region. She is suspected of the killings and has been transferred to Haute-Saône for questioning.
During interrogation, the woman admitted to being the mother of the infants found in the freezer, stating that she gave birth at home, wrapped the newborns, and placed them in the freezer. She acknowledged hiding her pregnancies from family and friends.
The woman’s partner, who was unaware of the pregnancies, was described as shocked by the revelations. An autopsy on the infants is scheduled for Friday as the investigation into the deaths continues.
