Former Conservative Member of Parliament Crispin Blunt has admitted to four drug-related charges, including the possession of crystal meth. Blunt, who once served as a justice minister during David Cameron’s tenure, was apprehended in 2023 after authorities discovered illicit substances in his residence. The 65-year-old confessed to drug possession during a brief session at Westminster Magistrates Court earlier today.
Representing Reigate in Parliament from 1997 to 2024, Blunt resigned following the removal of the Tory whip prior to the most recent general election. The substances found in his possession included GBL, a sedative, along with cannabis, methamphetamine, and methylamphetamine, commonly referred to as crystal meth. Blunt pleaded guilty to one count of possessing class A drugs and three counts of possessing class B drugs.
The discovery of the drugs occurred during an investigation into allegations of rape against Blunt. Following an 18-month inquiry, Surrey Police disclosed last year that no further action would be taken regarding the rape accusation due to insufficient evidence.
Upon his arrest in October 2023, Blunt was stripped of the Tory whip and later retired from Parliament at the 2024 general election. Prior to his political career, he served over a decade as an officer in the British Army and is a graduate of the Sandhurst Military Academy.
