The disruption in oil supply had caused a surge in global oil prices, subsequently leading to increased costs for petrol and diesel. However, with the ceasefire agreement, global stock markets rose, with London’s FTSE 100 index surging by 2.6% at the opening bell. Asian markets also saw significant gains, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 and South Korea’s Kospi climbing by over 5%.
Donald Trump, in a strategic move to facilitate peace talks, agreed to the temporary ceasefire after previously making strong threats against Iran. Despite this development, Iran’s state television mocked the U.S. leader in response.
