“Iran Celebrates Trump’s Ceasefire Acceptance”

Date:

Iran’s state television has portrayed Donald Trump’s ceasefire decision as a significant retreat from his military objectives. The US President, aged 79, reversed his stance on threatening to destroy Iran’s infrastructure, including bridges and power stations, which had faced criticism from US lawmakers and military leaders.

After much hesitation, the global leader agreed to a two-week ceasefire, contingent on Iran reopening the crucial Strait of Hormuz for shipping. Trump acknowledged Iran’s ten-point proposal as feasible, marking a shift in his approach.

Following Trump’s announcement, Iranian state news agency IRNA swiftly reported on the mutual ceasefire agreement. NBC News correspondent Matt Bradley highlighted Iran’s jubilant response, with the state television flaunting a banner celebrating Trump’s acceptance of Iranian terms to end hostilities.

Bradley also noted that if attacks against Iran cease, Iran’s Armed Forces will halt defensive actions for two weeks, allowing safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s comprehensive list of demands was made public post-Trump’s ceasefire commitment.

Confirming the agreement on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump emphasized that Iran’s proposals offer a basis for a lasting deal. Trump expressed optimism about finalizing the agreement within the two-week ceasefire period, indicating progress in negotiations between the US and Iran.
