“Miraculous Weight Loss Drug Leads to Hospitalization”

Date:

A young woman hailed Mounjaro as ‘miraculous’ after losing 3.5 stone but was hospitalized due to severe chest pains and pancreatic issues.

Alisha Trafford, 25, initially found the weight loss drug magical when she started using it in February 2025 to manage her PCOS symptoms and shed excess weight. After purchasing the £135 injections online, she quickly dropped three and a half stone within three months. However, her success turned into distress as she began experiencing intense stomach pain and nausea, leading to an emergency visit to the hospital.

Doctors diagnosed Alisha with pancreatitis, attributing it to Mounjaro. Subsequently, she faced multiple hospital admissions due to pancreatitis complications, eventually being diagnosed with pancreatic necrosis, a severe condition that can lead to life-threatening sepsis.

Expressing regret, Alisha stated that had she known the potential risks, she would have refrained from using the drug. The manufacturer, Lilly, emphasized their commitment to patient safety.

Originally from Hull, Alisha shared her struggles with weight management and PCOS, mentioning how Mounjaro seemed to offer a positive change in her life. However, her health took a drastic turn after starting her second dose, leading to severe pain and subsequent hospitalizations.

Despite undergoing treatment and being discharged, Alisha’s health deteriorated rapidly, requiring further hospital stays. Her consultant expressed surprise at her resilience but warned of potential long-term pancreatic issues.

Alisha, now focusing on natural weight loss methods, urged others using Mounjaro to seek medical attention if they experience any adverse symptoms.

Notably, Lilly confirmed their dedication to patient safety and advised users to consult healthcare professionals regarding any side effects of Mounjaro.

Pancreatitis, a serious inflammation of the pancreas, can lead to complications like pancreatic necrosis, potentially causing life-threatening infections and organ failure if untreated, as per NHS guidelines.

Alisha’s cautionary tale serves as a stark reminder of the importance of monitoring one’s health and seeking prompt medical care in case of any concerns.
