“Airline Perks for Families: Free Meals, Kids’ Kits & More”

Date:

Taking a flight with children can be a daunting task, whether you have a restless infant, an energetic toddler, or a bored teenager. However, several airlines offer enhanced onboard experiences to kick off your family vacation.

Many airlines provide additional benefits and complimentary items for families traveling with children, even in economy class, although some parents may not be familiar with these offerings. Particularly on long-haul flights, airlines often cater to younger passengers by offering dedicated onboard entertainment, meals, and even amenity kits.

Here are some complimentary perks you can access when traveling with your child this summer.

For TUI’s short-haul flights, parents with kids can enjoy various perks. They can check in their car seat and pushchair at no extra cost or bring them onboard if they meet specific size criteria. Additionally, families traveling with young children receive priority boarding.

On longer flights, passengers receive complimentary food and beverages, and children aged two to 12 are served special kids’ meals. Kids also receive free headsets to enjoy the child-friendly entertainment available on their seat screens. Moreover, each child receives an age-appropriate activity pack upon boarding, filled with holiday-themed activities to keep them engaged.

Children traveling on British Airways (BA) with their parents on flights lasting over three hours can receive complimentary Skyflyers activity packs, including an eye mask, socks, crayons, and a postcard. These packs are available at the Family and Club World check-in zones at Heathrow Terminal 5, Gatwick, and London City airports upon request to staff members.

Onboard, children’s meals are offered and can be pre-ordered with various menu choices. Snack boxes for kids are also available for purchase on shorter flights. Carrycots are provided at no cost for little ones needing a nap, and car seats and pushchairs can be checked in for free for families traveling with infants.

On lengthier flights, children can explore the seatback entertainment options, featuring a variety of kid-friendly shows and movies to help pass the time.

Virgin Atlantic provides complimentary meals, snacks, and beverages across all classes. When traveling with a child, you can log into your booking up to 24 hours before departure to select a kids’ meal. These meals are tailored for younger passengers and come with a side of fruits and a sweet treat.

At the gate, children receive an amenity pack, irrespective of their travel class. These packs come in distinctive red drawstring bags and typically include a popping toy, coloring book, sunglasses, and other surprises.

Children flying on Emirates receive a complimentary amenity kit tailored to different age groups—0-2 years, 3-6 years, and 7-12 years—to ensure they stay entertained during the flight. These kits are adorned with colorful images from various Emirates destinations and contain cuddly toys, activities, and collectibles.

Even the youngest travelers receive their own bags. Emirates baby and infant kits include essentials like baby wipes, cream, a reusable changing mat, a soft plush toy that can be attached to the seatback, and a cozy blanket for nap time.
