Pretti, aged 37, was fatally shot on the streets of Minnesota by federal officers who alleged, without substantiation, that he was armed. Despite community praise for Pretti as a “good man,” the Trump administration portrayed him as a potential assailant and implied his actions as “domestic terrorism.”
When questioned by reporters, President Trump expressed disapproval, stating, “I don’t like it,” while maintaining a neutral stance. He acknowledged his aversion to all types of shootings. However, Trump focused more on criticizing Pretti, emphasizing the importance of not carrying loaded guns to protests.
Contrary to video evidence showing Pretti holding a phone rather than a gun before being shot by law enforcement, federal officials, led by DHS chief Kristi Noem, maintained that Pretti was brandishing a firearm. The victim’s family, devastated by the administration’s claims, refuted the allegations and condemned ICE’s actions as cowardly and murderous.
