A Chinese holidaymaker was seen running naked through a hotel in Pattaya, Thailand, reportedly after being robbed by a transgender sex worker. The man brought the woman to his room but moments later was caught on CCTV sprinting down the hallway in the nude.
He reported the incident to the hotel reception, claiming that two women had assaulted him and stolen 10,000 baht (£238.66) along with an iPhone 15 Pro Max. One suspect, Atikhun Mueangmungkhun, was later identified and apprehended. Initially denying involvement, Atikhun confessed when confronted with security footage. She was charged with robbery and arrested on February 26.
Police Captain Assada Jarusombat stated that evidence from security cameras and the stolen phone led to Atikhun’s arrest. The suspect surrendered due to the incriminating evidence. The arrest occurred amidst a series of violent attacks on tourists in Pattaya, including incidents involving theft and assault by sex workers.
Pattaya, known for its nightlife and entertainment establishments, has faced challenges in maintaining its reputation as a family-friendly tourist destination due to such incidents. Despite police efforts to crack down on illegal activities, the area continues to struggle with issues surrounding sex work and crime.
