During a trial at Southampton Crown Court, it was revealed that two teenage boys were captured “laughing and filming” while sexually assaulting a terrified girl in a UK town.
The case involves three boys accused of involvement in the rape of two girls during separate incidents in Fordingbridge, Hampshire. The two defendants, now 15 years old, are facing four rape charges in connection with the first alleged assault that occurred in November 2024.
One of the defendants is also charged with two counts of rape, while the other faces four counts of rape related to the second complainant in an incident that took place in January 2025.
A third boy, currently 14 years old but 13 at the time, is facing two counts of rape in the second incident for aiding and abetting the second defendant. Additionally, the first boy is accused of taking three indecent photos of the girl during the January incident.
According to Jodie Mittel KC, the prosecutor, the girl involved in the November incident, aged 15 at the time, initially interacted with the first defendant after receiving a friend request on Snapchat from him.
Mittel stated that the girl visited the boy after he bought her a bottle of Lucozade, and they chatted in the park. Subsequently, they went to an underpass where the girl consented to engage in sexual activities with the 14-year-old boy until they were interrupted by passersby.
Mittel informed the court that the girl felt both nervous and comfortable initially but became scared and anxious when the second defendant, also 14 at the time, and another boy arrived, pressuring her and recording her while laughing.
The boys suggested a “threesome,” which made the girl feel disgusted, but she agreed because she felt outnumbered. The girl described her feelings as petrified, stating that she consented out of fear of the unknown consequences if she refused.
Subsequently, the girl felt cornered and trapped as the two defendants raped her while the second defendant filmed the assault. The victim described feeling numb and trembling while the boys laughed and recorded the incident.
The ordeal lasted around 90 minutes, during which the girl felt sick, on the verge of passing out, and struggled not to cry while the boys recorded the assault. Following the incident, videos were circulated, and the girl faced derogatory remarks and name-calling.
Mittel emphasized that the boys disregarded the girl’s feelings and consent, using her solely for their sexual desires.
The second complainant, who was 14 at the time, reported to the police that she was with two friends before being left alone with three other girls when the three defendants arrived, as per Mittel.
The girl alleged that the first defendant threatened her with a knife, instructed her to leave her phone with an Airtag tracking device at a store, and then escorted her to a recreation ground and nearby field.
Video footage from the second defendant’s phone showed the girl being sexually assaulted by the first two defendants. Mittel mentioned that CCTV footage did not display a knife, and a witness reported the girl expressing the need to ditch her phone to avoid being tracked by her mother.
The defendants have denied the charges, and the trial is ongoing.
