A man is facing allegations of killing four children and concealing their deceased bodies at his residence while reportedly engaging in social activities with others. Wellington Delano Dickens III, a 38-year-old father, was taken into custody and charged with four counts of first-degree homicide on October 28. He informed authorities that he did not subject his children to torture but admitted to excessive discipline. Law enforcement uncovered disturbing details in the case, revealing that the father left his children’s bodies to decompose in his vehicle in North Carolina.
Furthermore, it is alleged that Dickens invited individuals he met on the Grindr dating app following the purported acts. He confessed to purchasing body bags from an online retailer and placing his deceased children in them before storing the remains in his car’s trunk, as detailed in search warrants issued on January 14.
Reportedly, Dickens claimed his vehicle was inoperable and relied on food delivery services. During a search of his residence, authorities discovered two mobile phones. One of the devices did not have the Grindr app installed, but police purportedly found communications between the father and individuals he encountered on the app, indicating that he met several of them at his home after the tragic events.
According to reports, Dickens contacted emergency services to report the deaths of his four children. He mentioned that a one-month-old infant passed away due to illness, but no body was located on the property. He also disclosed that a five-year-old girl died two months earlier, allegedly due to disciplinary actions, and her nine-year-old sister perished after he restricted her breathing following a complaint.
The father additionally stated that a 10-year-old boy and his 18-year-old stepson succumbed to what he believed was malnutrition. The status of the children being reported missing remains unclear. Authorities found a three-year-old unharmed child during the search. Prosecutors announced their intent to pursue the death penalty for Dickens if he is found guilty.
Stephanie Jones, Dickens’ wife, reportedly passed away after experiencing a miscarriage. Neighbors, like Josalyn Tabron, expressed shock over the distressing circumstances, emphasizing the lack of detailed information provided by law enforcement regarding the incident.
