A newlywed British couple vacationing in Dubai experienced a terrifying ordeal when a missile strike hit their beachfront hotel, causing flames to shoot into the sky and debris to scatter onto their balcony.
Matthew McGinn, 42, was only six feet away from his window at the Fairmont Palm when a powerful explosion ripped through the luxury resort, sending shockwaves through the guests as missiles were intercepted in the sky.
This incident took place amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, with Iran launching missile and drone attacks across the Gulf in response to Western military actions, resulting in airspace closures and the grounding of numerous flights.
Footage from the couple’s hotel room captured flames erupting outside the hotel after the blast, with startled guests rushing for safety. Additional videos showed charred damage near the impact area and thick black smoke rising into the night sky. Local authorities reported that four people were injured in the hotel incident.
Matthew, hailing from Liverpool, Merseyside, had arrived in the UAE with his wife Layla Hamood, 41, and their three-year-old son Jenson just the day before for their long-awaited honeymoon. Recalling the event, Matthew said they were at the pool and beach on their first full day, enjoying the experience before the chaos unfolded.
