Residents have observed plainclothes police officers stationed outside Brueckner’s two-bedroom flat, with continuous police surveillance in place. Prior to his recent move, Brueckner operated a kiosk in the same neighborhood but has faced ongoing challenges in finding a stable residence in northern Germany.
Following his release from prison last year, where he served time for a 2005 rape case, Brueckner has been under 24-hour police monitoring. Reports indicate that he made unsettling remarks suggesting knowledge of a significant event related to the Madeleine McCann disappearance shortly after his release.
